The Misanthrope
November 2009, White Bear Theatre, Kennington, London
Design : Kate Matthews
Director: Simon Evans
Translation: Tony Harrison
The sleek minimal set for the misanthrope reflects the harsh yet superficial world of the “it” people. Deep purples and silvers bleed outside to a balcony and cityscape. The furniture and wallpaper panels hint at Moliere’s original 17th Century setting.
All costumes were restricted to a shades of white, grey and silver to underline the obligatory socialite uniform.
